Pre and Post Operative Physiotherapy

Pre-operative Assessments

Patients awaiting surgery are advised to see their physiotherapist prior, to prepare and help their bodies reach their optimal condition to accelerate recovery post op.

Patients are seen prior to their surgery to:

  • Discuss the role of physiotherapy postoperatively
  • Practice exercises that are to be performed after the surgery
  • Learn about equipment required after the operation
  • Optimise strength and range of movement

Post-surgical Rehabilitation

Our physiotherapists see many patients following various surgical procedures to assist in their recovery with the goal of returning to their full level of mobility and function.

Common surgeries requiring physiothearpy include:

  • Total/Partial Knee or Hip replacements
  • Spinal surgeries - fusions, discetomies, laminectomies
  • ACL reconstructions
  • Ankle fusions
  • Tendon repairs - achilles, biceps
  • Rotator cuff repairs
  • Meniscus repairs
  • Fractures
